For, this is what she is looking for. “I want to play a drug addict desperately,” she says with a glint in her eyes, “Psychologically, it will be very challenging. Doing a negative role or the girl next door is simple, because we all have some element of grey characters in us.
But, to play a prostitute or a drug addict can be very exciting.”
As of now, she is learning daredevil stuff for her action-packed role in the children’s film Rama — The Savior. For the role, she even took taekwondo lessons. Is that the reason behind her hourglass figure? “I work out regularly now,” she says proudly. And, like many of the female actors, she is also doing stunts. “Well, to a certain extent it has become a trend. Everyone wants to do an action role. My role in this movie is somewhat similar to Priyanka Chopra’s role in Drona. But, I wanted to do an action-packed role for quite some time now, because doing the same stuff for long can be boring,” asserts Tanushree.A film buff, she loves to see all types of movies — from regional films to world cinema. And, hold your breath, the Rajnikanth starrer Sivaji: The Boss is her current favourite. “I’m a big Rajnikanth fan. I instantly fell in love with the film. One of my friends accompanied me to explain the movie. But, his movies are anyways fabulous and self explanatory,” smiles the former Femina Miss India. Our conversation naturally turns to her stint in Pune, where she did her schooling and graduation. And, expectedly, she goes into a nostalgic overdrive, “It’s different every time I come here. It’s been five years since I left the city, and it is simply getting bigger and bigger every day. Whenever I come back to the city, I feel like taking a scooterette and riding.” And what’s her favourite hangout in the city? “Burger King in Kalyani Nagar. They had some of the best burgers. I still miss them,” she remembers fondly. This soft spoken girl from Jamshedpur has definitely made a mark in her own way, and with her new talents, she is desperate to join the big league. Not a very tall order, I suppose.
